Building Self Esteem In Children – 5 Awesome Tips For Parents

If you look at most happy and healthy kids, you’ll see that they all have one thing in common – positive self esteem. There is also a saying, “you are what you think and you are what you believe.” Therefore, how young children think and believe themselves now or during their early years could shape their future.

Here are the 5 awesome tips for building self esteem in children:

1. Give your child a hug and kiss every morning when she wakes up and night before bed. Express to him how much you love him.

2. Clap your hands and give him a cheer when your child performs a task successfully or master something new. You also can praise him with positive words like “I’m very proud of you”, “I’m going to tell your dad what a smart boy you are”.

3. If your child is struggling with a difficult toy or game, show her how to do it properly and say “it’s alright, you have a good try”.

4. When you smile to your child, make sure you have strong eyes contact with him. You can go down to his eyes level or bring him up to your eyes level and say “you are such a lovely boy and I love being with you”.

5. When you child wakes up in the middle of the night and cries, hold her firmly in your arms and calm her down by saying, “No matter what happen, daddy will always be by your side”. This will make her feel good and loved.
